About the Library

Hours

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except holidays. Due to limited staff resources and closing procedures, circulation and reference desk services may not be available after 4:45 p.m.

In case of hazardous or inclement weather conditions in the Austin area, please call the library's main telephone line at (512) 463-1722 or (844) 829-2843 (toll-free in Texas) because we will record a voice message if there are any changes to our regular hours. The library's inclement weather policy provides more details about our procedures. We generally follow the Austin ISD schedule, but in certain instances, we may keep our regular hours or opt to re-open later in the day if the schools are closed yet weather conditions improve.

Parking

The library does not have any dedicated parking for patrons. There is metered street parking available in front of and near the Tom C. Clark building. You may be able to find street parking along 14th Street, Lavaca, or Colorado.

Limited free public parking is available at the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage. It is located at 1201 San Jacinto (the northeast corner of 12th and San Jacinto). The first two hours of parking are free of charge. Vehicles may enter from either 12th or 13th Street. The garage is bordered by San Jacinto and Trinity.

Patrons with a disabled parking placard or license can park for free at any of the Capitol parking meters. Please see the Texas State Preservation Board's Accessibility Guide for more information on accessing the Capitol.
