Open Records Policy

The State Law Library is a library supported in part by public funds. Therefore, pursuant to Section 552.124 of the Government Code, any library record that “serves to identify a person who requested, obtained, or used a library material or service is excepted from the requirements of Section 552.021” and is confidential.

This law permits the Library to disclose records under the following circumstances: because the Library has determined disclosure is necessary for the operation of the library and the record is not otherwise confidential; to the person that the record concerns or to the person’s representative; or as a result of a subpoena or court order.

The custodian of records for the State Law Library is its executive director. Requests for information must be in writing, must contain sufficient information to identify the record, and must be directed to:
