Legislative Recaps of the 86th Regular Session

July 1, 2019

Feature

The Texas Legislature's 86th Regular Session ended on May 27th, 2019. Over 1,300 bills were passed by the Legislature and either signed into law by Governor Abbott or passed into law without the governor's signature.

Because so many bills were passed, it can be difficult for the public to sift through each new law. To help, we have put together a list of various legislative recaps of the 86th session. These are summaries of what the Texas Legislature accomplished and were written by news organizations, state agencies, professional organizations, and independent writers. Some focus on specific topics (e.g., bills related to criminal justice) and others are comprehensive roundups of all new laws.
