Reentry Resources for Ex-Offenders: A Research Guide
May 9, 2016
Feature
Our reference librarians have created many legal research guides for specific areas of the law. We recently published our guide on Reentry Resources for Ex-Offenders in order to help ex-offenders, their friends and family, and local organizations locate resources that will help facilitate their successful reentry back into the community. We link to laws regarding parole and mandatory/community supervision. We also provide links to information written in “plain English,” as well as useful digital resources, such as:
- Locked Out: A Texas Legal Guide to Reentry [PDF] — Created by the Texas RioGrande Legal Aid and Texas C-BAR in 2012, this guide provides a wealth of information including how to obtain identification, criminal history records, expunctions, and public benefits.
- A New Start - A Reentry Guide for Texas [PDF] — This 2010 guide from the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition provides information on community organizations, healthcare, and voting information.
- Restrictions on Convicted Felons — This page attempts to bring together many of the statutes and regulations that place restrictions on convicted felons in Texas after their release.
