Occupational Driver's Licenses
July 17, 2017
Feature
The State Law Library often receives questions related to occupational licenses. These are a type of restricted license that can allow someone whose driver's license has been suspended or revoked to drive in order to carry out essential household duties (such as attending work or school). The library links to information on how to apply for these licenses in our Occupational Driver's License research guide.
Our research guide includes:
- Texas statutes governing occupational licenses and the Texas Motor Vehicle Safety Responsibility Act
- "Plain English" summaries of those laws from the Department of Public Safety and the Partnership for Legal Access
- TexasLawHelp.org's Occupational Driver's License Kit
- Contact information for all Texas county clerks as well as the Department of Public Safety
If you have a question or would like more information about any of our Legal Research Guides please don't hesitate to Ask a Librarian!
