Lone star law: a legal history of Texas
366 pages. No updates available.
This volume is a part of Texas Tech University Press's American Liberty and Justice Series. In this book Michael Ariens examines the development of Texas law as a reaction to, as well as a shaping force in the political and social culture of Texas. He notes that "The story of law in Texas is a persistently human story, one in which human weaknesses and human strengths appear in equal measure." Ariens does a great job of relating those stories in an honest and entertaining way. Especially interesting and relevant to today’s concerns is the chapter covering land, oil and water law.
