1984 Texas Historical Statutes are now online!

October 10, 2017

The 1984 historical Texas statutes are now available on our website! This is the first time these 27 volumes of statutes have ever been made available freely online. This also marks the completion of the library's historical statutes digitization project that has brought online the Texas statutes from 1879 all the way through 1984.

Before our library undertook this project, there were no digital reproductions of the printed Texas statutes available freely online. The first phase of this project was completed in 2004 when we first digitized the 1879 – 1925 statutes and made them available for public use on our website. The library was awarded several local grants in 2015 and 2016 which allowed us to begin the ambitious effort to digitize the remaining 1928 – 1984 statutes. Today's publication of the 1984 statutes brings an end to this project. We are proud to announce that a complete run of the printed Texas statutes from 1879 through 1984 is now available on our website to all legal researchers.

We would like to once again thank the various legal organizations that funded the digitization of many volumes: the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Texas, Austin Bar Foundation, and the Texas Bar Foundation.
