Gun laws: A legal research guide
December 7, 2015
Feature
We recently updated our research guide on gun laws with information about the 2015 “open carry” and “campus carry” laws.
In addition, our guide provides an overview of the resources available online and in the library pertaining to Texas and federal gun laws, concealed handgun licenses, and local regulation of firearms and shooting ranges. We link to both Texas and federal laws on gun ownership, use, sales, and manufacturing, and we also provide links to articles written in “plain English,” which can be easier to understand than complex legal language.
We also highlight useful e-books, articles, and other digital resources that you can download from home (some of which require a library account) such as:
- New laws for Concealed Handgun License (CHL) program from the Texas DPS concerning open carry, campus carry, and more.
- Firearms Frequently Asked Questions from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
- Texas Criminal Practice Guide by Matthew Bender with details on weapons offenses
If you have a question or would like more information about any of our legal research guides, feel free to Ask a Librarian!
